====== Notes for Basic WvW Training session ====== This is simply rough notes for the content to be covered on a Basic Training session. * Start of session: * Form up a party for the session (one party total, inc instructor preferably). * Get ALL in the party on TeamSpeak3 * Get the entire party to Divinity's Reach Central Plaza * Go over the WvW status screen quickly * Three worlds, total points * Potential points * The "Go to" dropdown * Get the party to Fort Mariner in Lions Arch * Show the portals * Go through portal to Home Borderland (Underworld Borderland) * Map overview * (If party memebers are listen-only on TS, find a way to communicate in-map) * Bring up the map, zoom out completely, show three Borderlands, one Eternal * Zoom in to show Home Borderland only * Explain Blue Dots (party) and Green Dots (friendlies) * Explain border waypoints * Explain Citadel, Keep, Tower, Supply camp icons * Quick explanation on importance * Keeps for foothold and points * Towers for defence and for launching attacks on Keeps * Citadel and border waypoint are "invulnerable" * Contested mark (white swords) on attacked/contested locations * Battle marks (Orange swords) where 5+ players fight * Dolyak icons * Dolyaks bring supplies * Our Dolyaks need to be defended * Enemy Dolyaks need to be killed. * Chat overview * /p for in-party chat, commands from party leader are priority 1 * /g for general guild chat and Guild-commands during events (priority 2) * /t for team-chat, important instructions and updates, priority 3 * /m for map-chat, only friendlies can read /t and /m, /m is for non-important * Commander * What is a commander supposed to be * How do you find a Commander on map * Commander Squads * Why (squadinfo, squad chat, squad commands) * How to join * How to use chat (/d) * NPC Commanders / breakout events * Supplies * Go to a supply camp * What are supplies used for * How do you know your supply status * How do you get supplies * How do you use them * What are blueprints, and where/how do you get them * Fortifications * Go to a friendly tower * Explain doors and walls * Doors: relatively low HP, use RAM to attack, realtively easy to defend * Walls: fairly high HP, use Catas and Trebs to attack, can be harder to defend if enemy is structured * Arrowcarts, Catapults and Ballistas essential for defence * Use the Cannons and Mortars if present * Explain the importance of killing siege when attacking.
